Trump Supporters, We Need to Have a Talk
Look.
Your father and I have been thinking.
And we wanted to wait until just the right time to bring this up.
The time has come.
Baby. You lost.
Biden won.
Get over it.
Does that sound harsh? Tough love, buttercup. We tried TLC and understanding. Huh-uh. It's time for you to act like an adult.
Despite what you say about us, our memory isn't going yet.
We remember in 2016 how you said Donald Trump won fair and square, so we should just deal with it.
We remember in 2016 how you said that we should ignore any fishy activity at the ballot box. Because that would all be a gimmick to help change the results.
We remember in 2016 when you took some of us to task for saying "Not My President." How disrespectful and babyish and sore-loser-like of us.
We remember in 2016 when you called the protests and the dissent and the public accountability un-American.
We remember all of it.
So, it surprised us. We admit. When this time around in 2020 you started to say some crazily familiar things.
We questioned ourselves. We said, "No way. That can't be. Are we hearing what we think we're hearing?"
We watched in 2020 how you sulked when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won fair and square. Did you just deal with it?
We watched in 2020 how you demanded recounts and we said those were outright attempts to overturn the election. Was that just a gimmick to change the results?
We watched in 2020 as you said, "Joe's Not My President," and "Never Biden". Was that disrespectful, babyish, the words of a bunch of sore losers, too?
We watched in 2020 as you slung guns around your waists and invaded state houses in the name of protest and dissent and public accountability. Was that un-American, too?
Don't yell.
Don't cry.
Don't start with the sniffles because we've finally sat you down.
We're not just going to put baby in a corner and wait for you to get over your little meltdown.
We're having this talk because we've had enough of the childish antics. Elections matter. Votes matter.
This isn't about left and right. Liberal, conservative. It's about right, wrong. If we're really a democracy, and that's really something you want—and you say that you do—then you have to live with the fact that you lost. Fair and square.
Joe Biden is your 46th President. Kamala Harris is your Vice President. The people have spoken. The country has decided.
Deal with it.
